National Touring Art Exhibit

A major touring exhibition appears May 27 to July 31 in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries featuring the large-scale drawings by Huguette Despault May and the glass sculptural works of Kathleen Elliot. The national touring exhibition by the two artists is titled A Continuous Mark: Huguette May and Kathleen Elliot. The exhibits are free of charge.
This national touring exhibition will be on view during regular gallery hours, Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with special evening hours during the July 16 to 19 performance of the college’s summer musical 'Spamalot'. The 1st Annual Bar-B-Que Cook-Off is open to the public to sample and vote their People's Choice selection from 11:00AM-1:00PM on July 2nd. The cost is $3 per person for a ballot kit, with sample cup and spoon to taste each mouth watering entry and vote. All proceeds donated to the Heart Walk of Okaloosa County. HarborWalk Village will celebrate Ameria's freedom July 3rd through July 5th. Spirits will soar and flags will wave as the July 4th festivities kick off on Thursday with the Red, White and Blue Celebration honoring Tom Rice and the Honorable Sam Seevers with a WWII vintage flyover and fireworks following at 9PM! On Friday, let freedom ring with the glamorous Victory Belles as they revive the WWII era in their throwback tailored dresses, coiffed curls and bright red lipstick singing 1940's classics. The patriotic salute will continue with fireworks lighting up the sky in red, white and blue at 9PM! Gypsy Riot will keep the celebration rocking Saturday night for a FREE concert on the Destin Harbor at 7PM!

Drama Camp - "The Wizard of Oz"
Drama Camp — “The Wizard of Oz” (with the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation)
Lions and tigers and bears … oh my! ECTC is partnering with the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation to produce beloved the musical classic, “The Wizard of Oz” at Destin Elementary School. Students will experience auditions and casting (everyone gets a role), acting and theater games, and scenic and prop construction in a positive, team-building environment. This camp runs from July 14-19, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. with a final grand performance staged for family and friends on Saturday, July 20 at 6 p.m. A $5 donation per adult is requested for the show. Open to third through eighth grade actors. Tuition is $150 per student (paid to Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation).
“Inviting kids from all across the Emerald Coast to come dance, sing and ‘act out’ with us is at the heart of what ECTC is all about. We are thrilled to be able to once again partner with many of the area’s finest art organizations to present a solid art education program that not only hones skills and builds confidence, but is also just loads of fun,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher.
Kids' Summer Art Camp
The Arts and Design Society again offers the opportunity for children to participate in creating visual arts in its summer “Kids’ Art Camp.” Classes begin on Monday with ancient skills of clay artistry and feature a different medium each day, including drawing, painting, and other media. Each week ends with an art show and reception for the families, during the second half of Friday’s class. There are 4 sessions of the camp, organized by age groups. The cost for each of the week-long session is $60 per child ($50 for children of ADSO members). Pre-registration is required by Friday, July 11.
